11 Christmas Party Hairstyle Ideas And Tutorials

Holiday season is officially here with all the necessary decorations, exciting preparations and gift hunting. And while Santa Claus is working on my extended wish list this year, I started to gather ideas on how to make myself look special during this festive time.

One of the hardest parts of the Christmas outfit is actually the hair. You want it to look outstanding, that’s why before you go to your hairdresser, it is always better to have a proper idea in mind. I always come prepared and send pictures with the look that I want to achieve to my stylist in advance. This saves a lot of time, energy and nerves, especially before important events.

So, here is my list of the coolest 2012 hairstyle ideas for Christmas and New Years parties. I have also added video tutorials of these hairdos, which I found on YouTube, just in case you want to try and do it yourself. And if after browsing all these hairstyles you will still feel like it’s not enough, check out my list of other 10 hairdos here.

1 – Elegant Updo Hairstyle For Medium or Long Hair

This hairstyle is very elegant and feminine. This hairdo will be perfect for your family get together or even the upscale white tie Charity event.

2 – French Fishtail Braid Hairstyles For Medium or Long Hair

Braided hairstyles are still one of my favorite. You can never go wrong with such hairdo. You can wear it like a french fishtail braid or can gather all your hair in a neat updo. Either way this look is very feminine and stylish. The only important thing to remember is that the braid should be done very neatly and professionally. I won’t trust myself to make such hairstyle on my own.

3 – Dutch Crown Braid Hairstyle For Medium or Long Hair

This is the other example of braided hairdo which will be ideal for any party. With this hairstyle you definitely won’t be bothered with your hair being all over the place.

4 – Easy Party Updo For Medium or Long Layered Hair

This hairstyle is classy and elegant and although it looks like you’ve spent a lot of time on it, in reality is a very easy and fast option.

5 – Celebrity Side Bun Hairstyle

I love this side bun hairstyle. A lot of different celebrities such as Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johansson to name a few have chosen this particular hairdo for various red carpet events and I can see why.

6 – Greek Goddess Party Hairstyle

If you want to add a little bit of edge to your classical bun hairstyle, I think you can use the idea shown in the following tutorial.

7 – Funky Hairstyle With Steps For Short Hair

Although I personally have long hair and that is why all previous hairstyle ideas were ideal for long or medium hair, I also have a lot of friends, who have short hair. So, I decided to add a couple ideas for girls with short hair. Actually, it was very hard to find something interesting.

I loved this edgy hairstyle for short hair. It will be perfect for New Years party in a club or any celebration with your friends.

8 – Curly Flirty Hairstyle For Short Hair

This is very romantic and flirty hairdo for short hair. I love the curls!

9 – Elegant Hair Bow Hairstyle

I absolutely love this bow hairstyle, maybe because it reminds me of the bows we put on presents. How sweet and cute! And I want presents, lots of them

10 – Kim Kardashian Inspired Boho-Chic Ribbon Braids

10 Hairstyle Ideas for Christmas and New Year

Hello, I am starting to panic as Christmas and New Year is approaching so rapidly. I have already attended a couple of pre-Christmas parties and soon I will be out of ideas how to make my hair for each and every event. I usually wear my hair straight or curly. As I have long and healthy hair, it is always seem to be enough to look sexy and beautiful. But for such major events like Christmas, New Year, my Birthday and weddings I always prefer to do something extra.

I have spent some time browsing the Internet for cool hairstyle ideas I could use this Christmas and New Years. Yes, I know that I can go to my hairstylist and he will make me something stylish and cool, but I prefer to be prepared. So, you are always welcome to see what 10 hairstyles I have selected for this Holiday season.

By the way, I didn’t expect it to be so hard to search for a hairstyle. There are so many sites out there specializing on hairstyles, but it seems like they all have the same pictures and lots of advertising. So, I ended up browsing celebrity hairstyles on the sheknows.com site and also picked some ideas on your-hairstyles.com.

Also, for more hairstyle ideas as well as tutorials, check out my new 11 Christmas Party Hairstyles post, which I just created.

My first pick for Christmas is braided hairstyle. It seems that braids are the major trend at the moment and a lot of celebrities wear braided hairdos for different events.

My second choice is chignon hairstyles, they seem always look very elegant and chic. I really loved Amanda Seyfried, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood curly chignon hairdos.

Next on my list are curly hairstyles for long hair. The best examples I really loved are long and elegant hairstyle by Beyonce and Julianne Hough, as well as effortless yet cute looking hair by Eva Longoria.

And the last cool thing I like is hair accessories. You can choose any hairstyle you like and add something sparkling and cute to make you stand out of the crowd and make your hairstyle unique and unforgettable. Really good examples to my mind and taste are hairstyles and accessories by Alicia Keys, Zooey Deschanel and Pink.

Have a great Holiday Season everyone!!

Christmas party hairstyle

The perfect party dress is ready and waiting, the killer heels bought and paid for, but without a fabulous do, all that glamour will go to waste. If you're stuck for ideas to finish your party season look, here are a few tips for lush Christmas locks.

Hollywood hair

If you've opted for timeless elegance on the dress front, then add a touch of Hollywood with a simple hairstyle that oozes red carpet glamour. For long locks, try a side parting with loose waves for that 1940s movie star look, or add big, side-swept curls to give long hair real bounce. If you prefer an up-do, loose waves still work perfectly - leave a few front sections loose and invest in a sparkling hair accessory for pretty, feminine glamour.

Blessed with beautiful, natural, shoulder-length curls? Try pinning them back behind the ear for a gorgeous 1920s style.

Chic and sleek

Perfect for LBDs and short, cropped dos, slick hair is a style winner this season. For all you pixie croppers out there, take a tip from Emma Watson and match her red carpet super-slick do. Long locks can also take the trend, with a side parting tied back behind the ears and fixed in a low bun at the nape of the neck. Alternatively, team a sleek beehive with accessories like a bow or sparkly hair band.

Gothic glamour

Matching the high fashion trend for gothic and baroque, this year you can get away with hair that shows you're just too cool to care. A loose up do with loose strands at the front, messy bun with statement pins or accessories, or slicked back long hair kept smooth at the sides for elegant grunge. You can also rock the trend with a high, wet-look quiff whatever your hair length.

Easy up dos

While you could go the whole hog with a classic Audrey Hepburn-style beehive/high bun, this season up dos don't have to be hard work. Loose and messy can be seriously sexy if wavy hair is given plenty of lift at the roots and a front section left loose and forward, while short wavy styles pulled away from the face and teased upwards to add volume will have much the same effect.

Of course, the ponytail has enjoyed a major revival in recent years, and this simple do can be either slicked back and immaculate or girly with strands hanging loose at the side and front. For a pretty evening style, try twisting the lower sections of the hair from front to back, and secure both sides into a bun at the back for a gorgeous look as seen on the Valentino catwalk.

Big and bold

If you really want to make a statement at the Christmas bash though, big hair is the way to go. For long locks, it's all about the blow-dry, so think 1970s glamour with big waves or Jerry Hall-style curls. And if you've got short hair, go for a high quiff style a la Gwen Stefani.
